It All Starts with One Step....

....and probably a ton of typo's... But seriously high altitude brain doesn't do really well with proper spelling and grammar.

So the journey to the Annapurna region of Nepal begins on Friday, October 11th.  A quick flight to Chicago.  A 2 hour layover and then a 14 1/2 hour flight to Doha, Qatar.  A 14 hour overnight in Qatar and then a 6 hour flight to Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal.  32+ hours in all.  I will arrive what in essence will be Sunday mid-day Minneapolis time.

Some of the facts of the trip:

  • 7 airplane rides
  • 2 bus rides
  • 200+Kilometers hiked
  • alot of altitude gained and lost!
  • Nepal's money is called the Nepali Rupee yet to get a visa at the airport you have to use US Dollars
  • I'll be using a local outfitter and have a guide/porter to help out a ton along the way
  • 18,000 feet - the rough maximum altitude reached if all goes well
I'll be posting some fun pictures hopefully.  Last year there was decent cell coverage in the Everest region so we'll see how the Annapurna region is.

There is a comment section below.  Feel free to leave a note or question and I'll try to keep up as best I can.

The above map gives you a better idea of where Nepal is situated

I will be in the Annapurna region hoping to complete the Annapurna Circuit.

This is the rough route (going counter-clockwise)

Here is a picture of the area i'll be circling
